WHAT IS GOD DOING NEXT?

Perhaps the answer is simpler than we imagine.

Many people are asking what God is doing in this hour. Some see the shaking of institutions. Others see people leaving churches and familiar structures. Some sense that one season is ending while another is beginning.

Yet perhaps the question is not what God is building, but where He is leading His people.

The dwelling place of God is not ultimately a building made by human hands. It is His people. Yet before we can become His dwelling place, He must become ours.

There is a journey where we cease wandering through the many rooms of the world and come to rest in Him alone. We discover that our home is not found in position, reputation, ministry, influence, or accomplishment, but in the presence of God Himself.

The first threshold humanity crossed was self-reliance.

In the garden, Adam and Eve stepped away from dependence upon God and trusted in their own understanding. Since that day, mankind has been building, striving, searching, and attempting to establish life apart from complete dependence upon Him.

Perhaps redemption is not merely about forgiveness, but about the journey home.

There comes a threshold where dependence upon self begins to give way to dependence upon God. We discover that the strength of our own understanding cannot carry us into what lies ahead. Ambition cannot take us there. Religious activity cannot take us there. Even spiritual knowledge cannot take us there.

The doorway is repentance.

Not merely repentance from wrongdoing, but repentance from self-reliance. A turning away from trust in our own ability and a turning toward complete dependence upon Him.

Jesus said that unless a seed falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone. The seed falls into the ground as self-reliance and rises as dependence upon God.

What emerges is not a stronger version of ourselves, but the life of Christ finding expression through a people who have made Him their dwelling place.

As He becomes our dwelling place, something within us becomes settled. The striving lessens. The searching quietens. The need to be recognised begins to fade. We find that we are held, known, and loved by the Father.

Perhaps this is why so many feel they are standing at a threshold. God is removing every lesser place of dependence so that He Himself may become our habitation.

For the plan has always been the same.

"Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God." — Revelation 21:3

The New Jerusalem is not merely a future destination. It reveals the desire that has always been in the heart of God: to dwell with His people.

Perhaps this is what God is doing now.

Preparing a people who dwell in Him, so that He may dwell in them.

For it is written:

"Lord, You have been our dwelling place in all generations." — Psalm 90:1

"Thy Kingdom Come" is not simply a prayer to be spoken. It is the reality of God dwelling with a people who have made Him their dwelling place.
