Breath of Life

Breath of Life

God speaks a language that must be listened for, not assumed.

Like a child learning to speak, it is heard first by those willing to listen in a new way.

The birth of the earth came in formlessness and emptiness.

Deep darkness covered everything.

God hovered — like a parent waiting for a child to be born.

Then He separated the waters.

Like a birth.

And the earth became alive with His breath.

Man and woman — another birth.

Israel — another birth, formed slowly, carried through generations.

Jesus — born into the world yet carrying something older than the earth itself.

“Born again” — a different kind of birth, but still a birth.

And the coming of Christ will be a birth we have not yet seen.

Because God does not bring life through force, or demand, or sudden arrival.

He brings life through formation.

Through waiting.

Through hovering.

Through breath.

Birth is the language He speaks when He brings something new into the world.

And He is the one who gives it breath and life.
