Don’t be deceived by false prophets (1 John 4:1). I had the opportunity to meet one of these false prophets face to face. His claim of being set aside and triumphing over his sinful nature had me completely fooled. I paid a hefty sum to meet the self-proclaimed mighty prophet of the Lord.
The man I witnessed was broken and still hurting, mistreating his wife and ridiculing those around him. He indulged in wine, watched TV, and frittered away his time on videos. His weight and illness made walking a challenge for him. The person he portrayed himself as was not genuine; he was a deceitful prophet.
Initially, his words were from God, but eventually, he claimed them as his own. He used the word of God to establish himself as a mighty prophet. I had seen this same deception in the Christian community before, but never outside of it. It was pure pride!
Keep in mind the seven churches of the last day and stay vigilant against the false prophet’s deception. He has harassed me ever since I left his place, which indicates that I am on the right path in the eyes of the Lord. The only churches the Lord has no objection to are the persecuted and faithful ones. Another scripture aligns perfectly with the theme of this meeting. At that time, if anyone says to you, “look, here is the Messiah” or, there He is! Do not believe it (Matthew 24:23). These individuals who profess to be from the Lord can deceive even my elect.
Through my experience, I will gain new wisdom and empathy for those who have also been deceived. Be sober- minded, be alert. Your adversary, the devil, is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for anyone he can devour (1 Peter 5:8). The devil infiltrated my personal space because I yearned for a kindred spirit.
My relationship with the Lord will benefit from encountering this false prophet as it will make me more aware of those who falsely claim, “thus say the Lord”.
