Peace beyond emotion

Peace Beyond Emotion

There is a peace that is deeper than emotion.

It is not indifference, nor is it the absence of love. It is the quiet confidence that comes from resting in God.

Jesus revealed this peace when He slept in the boat as the storm raged around Him. The wind was real. The waves were real. The disciples' fear was real. Yet Jesus was not drawn into the panic of those around Him. His peace was not determined by the atmosphere; His peace transformed it.

He did not deny the storm. He simply lived from a place that was deeper than it.

The same invitation is extended to us.

As we learn to dwell in Him, we no longer become entangled in the emotional currents around us. We can remain fully present with people without absorbing their fear, anger, anxiety, or striving. We see their pain, we care for them, and we respond in wisdom, yet our own peace remains undisturbed.

From that place, we know when to speak, when to remain silent, when to act, and when to wait.

Peace becomes the place from which we live, rather than the reward we hope to find when circumstances finally change.

It is not the absence of feeling, but the presence of One who is greater than every storm.
